Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data ChemLifeIntel processes, why we process it, the legal bases we rely on, and the rights available to you. It applies to our website, the ChemLifeIntel Terminal, and related services.

Last updated: 18 June 2026

Information We Collect

We collect information in three ways: information you provide directly, information generated automatically as you use our services, and information from public-record and third-party sources used to build our intelligence graph.

Information you provide includes account details (name, work email, organisation), the contents of enquiries and intelligence submissions, billing contact details for Terminal subscriptions, and any correspondence you send us. Information generated automatically includes device and browser metadata, IP address, approximate location, pages viewed, and product-usage events.

The entity intelligence we publish about companies, molecules, facilities and regulators is sourced from official public records and is not personal data about you. Where a public record incidentally names an individual (for example, a regulatory signatory), we process it as described in our methodology.

How We Use Information

We use personal data to:

  • create and administer accounts and authenticate users;
  • provide, maintain and improve the website and the ChemLifeIntel Terminal;
  • respond to enquiries, support requests and intelligence submissions;
  • process subscriptions, invoicing and payments;
  • send service and security notices, and—where permitted—relevant product updates;
  • measure product performance and diagnose technical issues; and
  • detect, prevent and investigate fraud, abuse and security incidents.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it to train third-party advertising profiles.

Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)

Where the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Contract — to provide the services you have requested and to administer your account and subscription.
  • Legitimate interests — to secure, operate and improve our services, conduct product analytics, and communicate with business contacts, balanced against your rights.
  • Consent — for non-essential cookies and any optional marketing communications, which you may withdraw at any time.
  • Legal obligation — to meet accounting, tax and other statutory requirements.

Cookies & Analytics

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to secure the service. We also use privacy-respecting product analytics—primarily PostHog—to understand which features are used and where users encounter friction, so we can improve the platform.

Analytics data is used in aggregate to evaluate product performance and is not used to build cross-site advertising profiles. For full detail on each category and how to manage your preferences, see our Cookie Policy.

Data Sharing & Sub-processors

We share personal data only with vetted service providers who process it on our behalf under written data-processing terms. Typical categories include cloud hosting and database infrastructure, product analytics, email delivery, and payment processing.

We may also disclose data where required by law, to enforce our Terms of Service, or in connection with a corporate transaction such as a merger or acquisition, subject to equivalent protections. A summary of our sub-processor commitments is set out in our Data Processing Agreement.

Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy. Account data is retained for the life of the account and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal and operational requirements. Billing records are kept for the period mandated by applicable tax and accounting law. Product-analytics events are retained on a rolling basis and then deleted or aggregated. When data is no longer required, we delete or irreversibly anonymise it.

Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent where processing relies on it.

To exercise any of these rights, email compliance@chemlifeintel.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

International Transfers

We operate globally, and your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where we transfer personal data outside the EEA, the UK or other regulated regions, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, together with supplementary technical and organisational measures where required.

Children's Privacy

ChemLifeIntel is a business intelligence service intended for professional use. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at compliance@chemlifeintel.com and we will delete it.

Security

We apply administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal data, including encryption of data in transit and at rest, role-based access controls, least-privilege access, and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work continuously to protect your information and to respond promptly to any incident.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to our practices or for legal, operational or regulatory reasons. We will revise the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice. This document is a template and should be reviewed by qualified legal counsel against your specific obligations before you rely on it.
